How often do we rely on our intellect in our discovery of God? “God is the uncaused cause.”
While it is important not to exclude our capacity to reason, there are other recourses in our
discovery of the ways God wants to relate to us. God wants to communicate love to us. God
does this when there is space in our life so God can break through the meandering thoughts
of our mind.
It can happen through intuition when we feel an inner yearning for something more. “Is that
all there is?” In silence we can experience an unexpected inner God-given peace and love.
We call this contemplation. Through our outer senses we have access to God with a walk in
nature, music or in works of art, in movement, in suffering, in death. God in Jesus speaks to
us through a passage of Scripture or other readings. God in the spirit speaks to us in church
through liturgy, adoration, and formal prayer.
God wants to be all in all. It is through these many ways that God guides us on our journey.
God becomes very crucial to us because God is present in whatever makes our life human and
real. Scripture says, “Pray always.”
- What are some of the ways in which you experience God?
- In these days how are you experiencing God?
- Are you open to accept the ways God speaks to others that are not your experience?
O God, help me to receive you into my heart in many ways.
