Father Moreau tells his followers “Let us be tabernacles of God since His Kingdom is within us. We have our consecration in the waters of our baptism with its seal as the children of God.” Through our baptism we have been given the grace to be priests, prophets and kings (leaders). But to activate these graces we need to be aware that we are children of God. We receive these gifts from the parent who has loved us and continues to offer us love each day of our lives. We receive that love when we pray. Prayer does not have to take place only in the morning or evening or only when we go to church. St. Paul says. “Pray always.” That means we can realize that our life can become a prayer. God’s love is always there for us. Like a child we can draw on that love when and where we need it. At times we can simply say or think, “Help me.” or “I love you.” and let the awareness of God’s love enter our hearts. With God’s grace we will share in the priesthood of the faithful bringing Christ to the people that come into our lives. We will become prophets when reading the signs of the times, we will proclaim God’s kingdom. We will become leaders in the special way that fits our personality. What does being a child of God mean to you?Do you think of the effects of your baptism? Are you activating the gifts of being priest, prophet and leader in your life? O God, help me realize and activate my baptismal gifts. |
