We live busy lives. We have many obligations. We have people in our lives that we are
concerned about. We have concerns about ourselves – our health, about our ability of
fulfilling all of our obligations in our families, in our work, in the communities in which we
belong, in the Church, in our nation, and in this world.
Have we been able to hear God’s voice amidst the many voices that crave our attention?
Jesus is saying to us, “Come to me you who are heavily burdened, you will find rest for
your souls; for my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” God wants to bring us God’s
consolation, and God’s Spirit wants to give us grace with its power and energy to fully live
our lives. But we need to be willing to surrender to this “higher power.” St. Paul says, “It
is no longer I that live but Christ who lives in me.” This “abundant life” that God wants to
give us will be ours if we have made room for God by listening to God’s voice. It comes
with prayer that not only is in our mind but in our whole being. It comes with the
cleansing of water and the fire of God’s Spirit. It helps us to see the forest and not only
the trees. God wants to lead us on a journey to our deepest desire and our ultimate
fulfillment. God will show us the path to take as we navigate our way through all of our
concerns.
- Have you felt at times overwhelmed with all that is “on your plate?”
- Are you able to let God’s voice speak to you during these times?
- Are you up to putting your life in God’s hands?
O God, help me be open to hearing your voice and following your will.
