“Sing God a simple song. Lauda, laude. Make it up as you go along. Lauda, laude. God loves all simple things.” (Lenard Bernstein’s “Mass”) Sometimes our minds are filled with clutter. It could revolve around things we want, useless knowledge we receive from the internet, lingering regrets of things from our past, worries about things that could happen in the future.

God wants us to experience the joy and peace that comes with simple living relying and depending on God. “I will sing God’s praises while I live, all of my days.” (“Mass”) Poverty of spirit can mean that we have space in our lives to hear God’s voice in a very personal way. God wants to share with us an unconditional love the will enable us to live a full and productive life. Scripture says that “If God is for us, who can be against us.” The presence of God can heal the hurting places in ourselves and in others. Living our simple life can become very attractive to others whose lives are filled with clutter and confusion. In gratitude we need to “sing to God a simple song to praise God, to bless God, to bless that Lord, all of our days.”
