“I am giving you a heart of flesh and not a heart of stone.” If your heart is open to receive the love of his heart, Jesus wants to share his love with us. All he requires is a trust that his love is there for us. The love of his heart reaches all peoples, difference races, different cultures, different status, and different religions. It is the poor and the poor in spirit who are most open to receive that love. No matter what circumstances we find ourselves in, the love of Jesus’ heart is there for us. We need the trust of the story of the Roman soldier in the Bible. “O Lord, I am not worthy that you enter my house—say but the word and my servant will be healed.” When we need a healing of body, mind, or spirit, even a broken heart, Jesus is there for us, giving us the consolation of heart speaking to heart.

The mission of Brother Columba, C.S.C., was to share the love of the heart of Jesus with the thousands of people who asked for his prayers. Praying from the heart goes beyond our reason, our emotions and physical life, and touches the center of who we are in God’s eyes. It is from this place that we will experience the love that Jesus wants to share with us and where our healing will take place. There he will bring the joy of his spirit that we can share with those who come into our lives.

  • What might be present in your heart that is keeping you from experiencing God’s love?”
  • Are you open to receiving the love from Jesus’ heart?
  • Where does God’s love take you in the living of your life?

O God, help me to trust in the heart of Jesus’ love.
