As we travel down the road on our pilgrimage, we are often met with obstacles. From
time to time when the going gets tough, we might ask ourselves the question, “What’s
happening?” Why is it so important that I give up my daily routine in which I have become
comfortable and set out on a journey whose end is out of sight and requires the “pain of
faith.”
The heart of the matter is the heart is not satisfied and content. It wants more. It keeps
searching for more. The “more” is not the desire for more stuff or more pleasure. It is
deeper than that. The heart is longing for authenticity and the fulfillment for what it has
been created. It is what will make our lives not only meaningful but necessary. Where is
God leading us? So, on we walk hoping that by the end of this pilgrimage, we will have
discovered the answer.
As Christians we will not be overwhelmed by the obstacles put in our way, but, like Jesus
no matter what, became “the Christ.” We will receive the grace to fulfill our longing in
Him.

  • What are you longing for?
  • Do you consider your life like being on a pilgrimage?
  • What experiences have you had to assure yourself that you are on “the right road?”

  • O God, keep me on the right road through all of life’s ups and downs.
