Are we as a person or a people known for saying “yes” or “no” to life? A “yes” person or people are open to see all creation as life giving wherever it is found. For Christians this is a person or people who follow Jesus. His “yes” was first given to his Father when he accepted a mission to bring forth the Kingdom of God to earth as it is in heaven. Jesus was a person who said “yes” to the people who came into his life. He treated them with compassion and sometimes pointed them to the “way, the truth and the life.” He healed in numerous ways those who believed in him.
This is in contrast to the person or group who are known for constantly saying “no” to their life. Their life is filled with not accepting the life that God has given them. They are like the people who wake up each morning not saying, “Good morning, God but good God, morning.” “Is that all there is?” The life they experience is not enough.” They might be the kind of person or group those mind and heart are closed to the prophetic, one of the attributes each person received at his or her baptism. God wants us to keep our minds and hearts open to receive God’s care in new and surprising ways.
- Do you find yourself being mainly a “yes” or a “no” person?
- What helps you put on the mind of Christ?
- If life becomes a constant “no” who or what helps you snap out of it?
O God, help me more and more to be open to the life you have offered me
