As we experience crisis after crisis this year, there can be a tendency to raise our
hands and say, “What else can happen.” Our country is immersed in the
pandemic, social injustice, climate change and a crack in what our democracy
means etc.
But through it all our faith tells us that “God’s love is here to stay.” Even in our
darkest hours God can break through like the sun rises and breakthroughs the
darkest of nights. God’s love is the source of our hope. It is the cause of our joy.
It is only God’s love that can truly bring light and warmth to our dark cold nights.
It shows us the way as we travel step by step into the new day. By recalling
God’s faithfulness in the past, we are lead with blind trust step by step into the
future. We learn from many past experiences the audaciousness to not lose sleep
and remain at peace. God’s love for us will not leave us and this will be our great
consolation.

Are you overwhelmed by a crisis right now?

Have you experienced God helping you in these kind of situations in your past?

Do you trust in God’s love for you to bring you hope and joy as God leads you
through the darkness into light?

O God, help me experience your love in a way that brings hope and joy even in
times of darkness.
