The Brothers recently celebrated the 95th birthday of Brother Robert Mosher who is 95-years
young. He is the oldest member in the Midwest Province of Brothers of Holy Cross. Also,
celebrations have begun for the 150th anniversary of the entry into eternal life of the founder
of our Holy Cross Family, Blessed Basil Anthony Moreau.
Brother Robert had been asked to comment on how Father Moreau has been an inspiration
during his 60 years of teaching and beyond. He mentioned three ways that have been
significant. He said Moreau’s zeal for mission has helped him maintain his zeal for teaching,
and he also credits it for his alertness during his later years. He says Moreau’s devotion to the
Holy Family has inspired him to appreciate and promote a family spirit among the sisters,
brothers and priests and their associates. As a brother, like St. Brother André, he also has a
special devotion to St. Joseph. Lastly, Brother Robert looks to Father Moreau’s life to more
fully grasp the Cross as a sign of hope. By accepting the crosses he experiences in life, like
Moreau he has become able to see them as stepping stones to living a fully Christian life.
They are signs of future blessings for himself and for the community.
Like Moreau, Brother Robert is a blessing to us all as we journey through life.
