Sometimes a person can feel “small” when someone says that they have experienced before
what you are experiencing and tells you what you need to do. It is quite simple. That person
wants to be useful and probably does have some useful information. However, what you
would really like is someone who would support you and walk with you as you move step by
step through the process of becoming the person you were meant to be.
Often a person can look to Jesus to find right answers in the Bible. There, Jesus tells us to
“love our neighbor as ourselves.” But it is easier said than done. How do I love myself, warts
and all? How do I deal with the hurts that I have experienced? Who can be with me and
accept me even when I backslide, and help me realize that God loves me no matter what?
Is my God only a God who has the right answers but is distant? Does God “stand by me” as I
stumble and maybe even fall? This would be a God who not only understands the process
but is with me all of the way as I become closer and closer to the true God of my journey to
wholeness.

• Do you consider yourself “in process?”

• What steps do you need to take to get closer to God?

• Who supports you on your spiritual journey?

O God, be with me as I take the next steps on my spiritual path.
