Jesus did not only cure people in their bodies, He also freed people of their inner
demons. What are some of the inner demons that hold us back from being free
children of God? Sometimes depression that comes from not having experienced
unconditional love can cause a blockage. Maybe we were not loved unless we lived up
to the expectations of others. Maybe the fear of rejection keeps us in “bondage.”
Maybe the fear of failing keeps us from developing our gifts. There are many reasons
for not coming into our own freedom.
Whatever it is, Jesus can cure us. We only have to remember how the disciples of
Jesus were frightened and huddled in the upper room after his death. Gradually they
were cured when Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to dwell in them and gave them the power
to become what God had intended them to be.
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of the faithful and help us experience that
unconditional love which invites us to step out in faith and trust, by the power of your
grace, and renew the face of the earth.
